The first Friday of the Unity Week named the World Day of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) -  Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) made the announcement yesterday, January 25, while addressing Friday prayer worshippers at Tehran University Campus.

He extended felicitations to Muslims all around the world on the auspicious occasion of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birth anniversary, saying these days mark the Unity Week.

Hojat-ol-Islam Araki stressed that the naming of the days as the Unity Week by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (RA) was not merely a political slogan or religious propagation, but unity is a fundamental part of the religion.

Referring to verse 19 of Surah Al-e Imran, “Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves,” he said based on the teachings of the Quran and Islam, the Muslim Ummah should not be divided.

He underlined that an Ummah who is truly Muslim and considers the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as its guide and leader can not be a divided one.

Secretary general of the WFPIST further referred to the programs of the Unity Week, saying that there will be a great celebration in Tehran, during which the flag of the Ummah Wahida (united Ummah) will be unveiled.

He added that the International Conference of Islamic Unity is planned to be held on Sunday and Monday.
